Programmable Thermostat Campaign
October 2- February 1, 2008
This program, sponsored by Vermont Energy Investment Corporation, challenges Manchester residents to replace their old, manual thermostat with a new, programmable, energy efficient model.
WHY PROGRAMMABLE THERMOSTAT?
By turning your thermostat back 5° - 15° for 8 hours, you can save about 5 - 15% a year on your heating bill. You can also reduce your carbon emissions by approximately 450 pounds a year. Now is the time. Manchester Challenge wants you to try and change your behavior of energy consumption.
THERMOSTAT FACTS
- SAVE 5-15% a year on your home heating bill by turning back your thermostat 10-15% for 8 hours a day
- REDUCE your Carbon Dioxide emissions up to 450 pounds a year (Every 1° reduction in temperature eliminates 223 lbs of carbon)
- AVAILABLE at your local providers: Aubuchon, r.k. Miles, Dorr Oil, and your HVAC contractors
- FREE mercury thermostat recycling at r.k. Miles and Aubuchon Hardware
- $10.00 rebate for Manchester residents who participate with proof of receipt and proof of recycling thermostat
Turning down your thermostat during the day does not make your furnace run harder to "catch up". You can program the thermostat to heat your house to a desired temperature for when you come home from work.
Would you leave your tea kettle on all day to have hot water?
